STUDIO C ARTISTS

Based in Los Angeles, Studio C Artists is a production, casting, and arts education company founded by director John Coppola and producer Michael Sonntag. The production unit focuses on film and television – primarily features, documentaries, scripted series, and web series. In addition, Studio C Artists develops projects for the stage, with the intention of working some of them into material for the screen. The Studio C Artists Acting & Filmmaking Institute is an all-encompassing acting studio, which offers a curriculum of acting classes, career-related seminars, and filmmaking workshops. The curriculum emphasizes The New Approach – a unique formula taught only at Studio C, which has been cultivated and perfected over the last 10 years. Studio C Artists’ clients range from up-and-coming actors to major film and television stars, and are represented by some of Hollywood’s busiest agents and managers.

Michael Sonntag – Producer

Michael Sonntag is a producer, casting director, and acting coach. Born and raised in St. Louis, MO, Michael began his career producing local evening news for NBC, after graduating from the University of Notre Dame. He has worked both in front of and behind the camera, in a wide range of positions – most recently casting the feature films, Styria and Nephilim, as well as a number of commercials for clients such as Disney, TV Land, NFL Networks, and the U.S. Army. Michael has also worked as the casting director and line producer on the television series, Bourbon Street, for Rampart Entertainment. His other producing credits include Co-Producer on award-winning director Vince DiPersio’s acclaimed feature documentary, Truth In Terms Of Beauty, and Associate Producer & UPM on Semper Fi: One Marine’s Journey, for Showtime. His next film project, the indie drama, The Starfish Scream, is slated for production in 2015. Michael has also produced over twenty-five stage productions in Los Angeles. Prior to producing, Michael held the title of Director of Development for Shakrah Films, after working for many years as an actor in Hollywood. One of the founding partners of Studio C Artists, Michael currently teaches acting classes to both kids and adults, and offers private coaching.

Kila Packett – Producer

Kila has worked as a press associate for the Broadway productions of The Real Thing and Copenhagen as well as for many international productions at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. He has written about music, theatre, and dance for ShortandSweetNYC, PopMatters, and ActorsLife. As a photographer, his photos have been published in The New York Times, New York Magazine, Time Out NY, and Backstage. He made is Off-Broadway debut in Sir Peter Hall’s As You Like It starring Rebecca Hall at BAM and was subsequently chosen by Liv Ullman to understudy three roles in A Streetcar Named Desire starring Cate Blanchett. He is a founding member of the Plastic Theatre and co-author of The Secret Court (GLAAD, Drama Desk nomination for Outstanding play). He is the recipient of a Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center Fellowship where he performed alongside Emmy award-winner Penny Fuller. Kila made his Primetime television debut in season 2 of the CBS hit series “Hawaii Five-0” and reprised his role in season 3. As an educator, Kila has taught drama for the BELL Foundation in Boston, the Columbia High School Institute, and Classic Stage Company in Manhattan. He moved to Los Angeles in 2011, and currently teaches for Theatricum Botanicum, LA Drama Club/Shakespeare in the City, and Young Storytellers Foundation. He holds an MFA from Columbia University’s School of the Arts.

Kate Robertson – Stage Manager

Kate Robertson knew she wanted to pursue more roles in film after working with William H. Macy on the set of Rudderless. Kate spent years in regional theater, playing roles such as Kate in the Taming of the Shrew and Cecily in The Importance of Being Earnest. Before moving to Los Angeles Kate worked as a fire dancer and static trapeze artist at festivals and events, and still loves to set herself on fire every now and then.
